So what happens next?

Each personal future plan is designed to progressively introduce key aspects of independent living and demonstrates the reality of early adult life. Once we all agree that the individual assessments meet with the required development parameters, the Kites team outsource suitable accommodation within the area.

This first step into the big wide world can be daunting to many young people in care. Therefore we ensure that familiar Kites staff are readily available to develop confidence in this new independent living environment.

We don’t assume that all young people have the ‘life and living’ knowledge that is often taken for granted in these formative teenage years. We provide the guidance and support needed to develop their own skills, maintaining clear lines of communication, whilst gradually diminishing the level of support until true independence is possible.
