Foster Care
We recognised the need to offer a unique fostering service that acknowledges that some children, both male and female, who have sexual development problems need a family oriented living situation. We work with children from age 5 to 18 within our fostering service.
The foster care we provide is an integral part of the overall Kites range of services, maintaining close links with our residential, education and therapy facilities.
Our constant commitment to considered care is reflected in the recruitment of suitable foster carers, who are selected on their ability to provide time, attention and non-condemning care, backed up by full-time support from our experienced and multi-disciplined team.
Risk assessments, treatment plans and education is available to all young people placed in our foster service and forms part of the integrated future care plan for the individual.
To provide the best possible service, we continually provide training and support for our foster carers, with integration into other elements of the Kites team areas of knowledge. Wherever possible, we encourage the flexibility of movement between our foster care and residential service, dependent on individual risk assessments, always making carefully considered decisions.
"The overall quality rating is outstanding.
The fostering service makes available foster carers who provide a safe, healthy and nurturing environment. All young people in care say how happy they are in the foster home and were observed to be very content.
The young people looked healthy, happy and very well cared for.
Young people are matched very well with carers who research the young person’s back ground to help them understand and preserve their identity. The service protects young people from all forms of abuse, neglect, exploitation and deprivation.
The fostering service ensures young people and their families are provided with foster carers, who value diversity and promote equality.
The service gives a high priority to meeting the educational needs of young people.
This is an excellent service providing good opportunities for young people to develop emotionally, educationally, physically and socially. Staff receive regular support and report good training opportunities. The service is monitored to help progress the service. "
