One of the team has chosen healthy body, healthy mind as their bespoke project. They have worked with the young people to create a visual menu which empowers them to choose their meals each week, the visual images also provide aid to our boys who have additional needs. They encourage healthy, balanced, and homemade meals, and promote cooking from scratch to help limit sugar intake.
Independent cooking is encouraged by all staff so our young people can build their confidence and knowledge in preparing and making meals for the future.
The boys enjoy taking charge of their own personalised theme nights where each young person chooses a theme for an evening meal, the boys often use this time to share their culture with the other residents through food, decorations, and music. They set the menu, purchase the ingredients, and prepare the food for all to enjoy.
To promote a healthy mind, the staff has provided many activities for the boys to take part in this includes, making memory boxes for each young person, themed and occasions crafts and decorating stones to spread positivity around the world for the love on the rocks UK group.
