For one of our young people, it was a very busy weekend last week. On Saturday he and a member of the outreach team set off to the o2 Islington in London to watch The Twang in concert. This was a reward for completing 6 weeks of the Let’s Talk Journal (a programme designed to help the young people express themselves openly to staff.)
Then on Sunday the pair took a second trip to London this time to visit White Hart Lane to watch the Spurs vs Aston Villa game.
For both events the young person was tasked to lead the way, this included buying the train tickets, giving the directions for the venues, and asking for platform information, he succeeded well at this and only required a little help and encouragement.
The young person expressed how much he had always wanted to go to a concert and of course to watch his favourite team play too even if they did lose! The weekend was spent with lots of laughter, chanting, singing, and dancing.
The staff member was extremely proud of the young person’s behaviour throughout the whole weekend and felt how lucky we are as a team to be able to give our young people some amazing opportunities and rewards for all their effort and hard work.
